Between 20-27 September 2019, The Global Climate Strike mobilised a record 7.6 million people take to the streets and strike for climate action. It was the biggest climate mobilisation in history.
As Digital Campaigns and Organising Director at 350.org, I was responsible for leading a global team of over 30 campaigners to develop and execute promotion, recruitment and engagement plans.
We built and maintained event registration, mapping and RSVP managing systems. Our global map was used to register 6135 actions in 185 countries. Our website became the global hub for this historic mobilisation.
Our social media and content strategy reached millions of people around the world in the lead up to and following the Climate Strikes.
Our Digital Climate Strike saw 8583 websites join the mobilisation by either shutting down or displaying prominent banners of support. These websites included Tumblr, WordPress, Lush, Urban Dictionary, and many other leading global websites.
